What is Motylo?
Motylo is a small chat website in progress by Solos.
It was originally made as a clone of a certain other chat website- but has since gained some amount of originality. The hope is to be able to make many interconnected chat rooms and sites maintained and moderated by users.
But there's still a lot of work to do!
I hope you'll come along for the ride!
Where do I start?
You can simply go to motylo.xyz, enter a username then start chatting. Easy as that! This works as a kind of guest account system. They don't have a password.
However, you may want to create a password-protected account (I mean, who wouldn't!) Simply click register at the bottom and claim an unused username!
Frequently asked questions
A lot of people don't exactly know HOW to use this site!! Below are some pictures and information snippets to help you get the hang of it!

The Main Room
This is where you can access all your friends and private channels!
The sidebar is simple, when you accept a friend request, your new friend will show up there. Below, you can add private rooms to the interface. All you need is the code for that private room and you can set the name to whatever helps you to remember it!
Important Features
- Click the blue node to go to your first private channel
- The cog icon shows settings, you can change your profile picture and enable push notifications*
- Next to that icon is the Mobile UI button, if you're using a phone, this UI should look better for you
- Finally, the bell, this is where all your notifications are kept, replies, direct messages and friend requests
Inside the Private room
There are a lot of toggles in this room, but they're all pretty important.
In the top corner you will see several icons/buttons. The notif bell and a microphone button, the voice chat. We'll come back to voice chat below, but its exactly as it sounds really! Just make sure you allow the site access to your mic (you can mute yourself straight away) or you won't be able to hear audio.
Important Features
- Click on a users avatar or username to go to their profile
- Go to Message and you can friend or speak to this user privately, one to one
- My Profile allows you to edit your own profile and view it
- You can add a bio, make sure to press the save profile button when you're done
- You can also upload a profile picture. Choose a file then click the big purple upload button

Voice chat
Voice chat is simple, free and private. In the url you will see ?code. Set this code to whatever you want and send it to someone!
You can chat with them on any device!

Push Notifications
Sometimes SOME PEOPLE don't check their pings...
But that's okay! Just tell them to enable push notifications. Go to settings (the cog in the main room) and click the push notification button at the bottom!
Now, if you reply to them or message them privately, they'll get a notification from their browser!
NOTE: You must give the browser permission to notify you. Some browsers are not compatible with OneSignal (chrome is, but others don't work.) Try googling "My [browser] not showing push notifs from onesignal" to debug...
And that's about it!
How about that, we're finally done!
